Petition to Support Adriaen's Landing workers
The Adriaen's Landing convention center and hotel are key engines for Hartford's economic renaissance, each built with millions of City and State taxpayer dollars. We pledge to stand up for the rights of these workers to decide whether or not to form a union, without fear of threats or intimidation. Because the N.L.R.B. process permits strikes, boycotts, and picket lines, we believe that a better way is possible.
Therefore, we call on The Waterford Group to obey the City of Hartford's ordinances by negotiating a "labor peace" agreement, to avoid any labor dispute that could compromise this project's success
However, if no such agreement is reached, and if a picket line or boycott is called, then I will not personally attend any event scheduled at the Adriaen's Landing Connecticut Convention Center or Marriott hotel until the dispute is resolved.
The above petition has been signed by:
U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd
U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman
U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro
U.S. Rep. John Larson
Lieutenant Governor Kevin Sullivan
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal
Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz
Treasurer Denis Nappier
Comptroller Nancy Wyman
Mayor John DeStefano, New Haven
Mayor Dannel Malloy, Stamford
Mayor Jim Miran, Stratford
CT Sen. Edward Meyer
CT Rep. Toni Walker
CT Rep. Walter Pawelkiewski
CT Rep. Kevin Ryan
CT Rep. Demetry Giannaros
CT Rep. Denise Merrill
CT Rep. Andrew Fleischman
In addition, over 700 Connecticut residents and community leaders have signed the pledge.
